Karishma’s journey is certainly an inspiring one for many aspirant business women out there. Being an optimist & extrovert Karishma has naturally developed her people skills over time. She has been successfully running her venture “Kanyadaan Matrimonials” since the year 1999. By exclusively serving to the Sindhi & Punjabi community she has tapped a niche market.
Born in Tezpur, Assam Karishma is a daughter of Late Mr. Gope and Late Mrs. Indu Chotraney. Her father who worked for the government in the Indian army had to travel around India depending on his official postings. For her, this was an exposure to varied places & people as she travelled with her family in India while growing up.
After graduating from Jaihind College, Mumbai she grabbed an opportunity of a Public Relationship officer at hotel The Leela, Mumbai (then known as Leela Kempinski). Her performance was especially recognized during the riots in Mumbai, in early nineties. She had received an award as an appreciation of those long working hours during critical time.
‘Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans’ this quote by John Lenon actually proved to be true in the beginning of Karishma’s new venture. As she was enthusiastically involved in searching a compatible life partner for her sister-in-law, Karishma was little aware this initiative of her is going to lead her into a fruitful venture. However in this process the idea of opening up her own matchmaking bureau was popped in her mind. Her husband was more than happy to support her decision, and that’s how “Kanyadaan Matrimonials” started. Karishma set herself enroute on to a new journey. The journey of connecting people. Since then Karishma has helped a lot of Sindhi families to find a prospective groom or bride for their daughters & sons, brother or sister, niece or nephew. It started off with a small set up & she had some spare time with her at the initial stage. She also started matchmaking for Punjabi families. Today she has diverse Indian residents and NRI Sindhi and Punjabi families registered with her.
Another talent of Karishma is acting. She has set her mark in Sindhi plays. She has done about 35 shows in Mumbai and different cities in India. Her confident performances have earned her some awards for contribution to Sindhi theatre. She still nurtures her passion as she loves performing on the stage.
Karishma has adopted contemporary ways to unite 2 different people in a marriage bond. She has strived to make the entire courtship stage as organized as possible in the most sensible manner. Her goal is to become such a trusted marriage bureau that every Sindhi and Punjabi family should remember “Kanyadaan Matrimonials” when they think of getting their children married.
